THE FUTURE IS FEMALE GAZEY
Theories of looking/gazing are integral to my practice as a photographer, and as a feminist. A tribute to Barbara Kruger and postmodern feminist art in general, The Female Gaze is to me is about about female practitioners in creative fields in director roles, showing life and art/design through our lens. Womxn in the industry turning our collective cheek.
We see your gaze, we accept it. We know it, we feel it – we objectify us, but we are stronger. You objectify us, but we don’t care. We’re showing all different types of us, in all our faces, from all our angles, and we’re throwing it in your face via multiple mediums. We’re not here to show you an image of perfection to gaze at, we’re hitting you with the truth, and you will look. Your gaze hits, we feel it, this time we’re looking back, directly. at. you.
